St. Sophia Plein Air-2022 participants’ works exhibition

On November 12, an exhibition of the works of St. Sophia Plein Air-2022 participants will open in the Bakery halls of the National Conservation Area “St. Sophia of Kyiv”.

St. Sophia Plein Air was started back in 2014 to preserve the great tradition of drawing from nature in general and architectural monuments in particular.

In recent years, this artistic event has become a platform for new acquaintances, exchange of experiences and communication of amateur artists.

This year’s plein air took place under martial law. Many regular participants of previous plein air events ended up outside of Ukraine. For security reasons, they refused to invite students from children’s art schools and studios.

Plein air sessions were interrupted by air alarm signals, and artists, waiting for the threat to pass, looked forward to ring-off to draw further…

The final exhibition collected the works of 25 artists. Among them are members of the Kyiv plein airs informal creative association, who during the summer-autumn season worked in various picturesque corners of the capital, in particular, on the territory of the National Conservation Area “St. Sophia of Kyiv”.

At a time when the enemy is killing Ukrainians and destroying the national cultural heritage, drawing and popularizing Ukrainian architectural and natural monuments becomes a form of spiritual and emotional resistance of artists. Come to the exhibition to join the struggle on the cultural front, we invite you!
