We invite you to take part in the 8th Sudak International Scientific Conference “The Black Sea Area, Crimea, Rus in History and Culture” to be held oSeptember 27-28, 2018.


It is dedicated to the double anniversary date – the 150th anniversary of conferring a museum status to the Sudak Fortress (1868) and the 60th anniversary of its becoming a part of The National Reserve “St. Sophia of Kyiv” (1958).

The conference will be held at the Museum “St. Sophia of Kyiv”, 24 Volodymyrska St., Kyiv, Ukraine.

September 26 – arrival and accomodation.  

September 29 – departure.

The following sections (workshops) are planned:

  • Section 1: History and Archaeology of Crimea and the Northern Black SeaArea from the Ancient Times;
  • Section 2: Byzantium – Crimea – Rus:Ties and Cultural Contacts;
  • Section 3: Problems ofProtection and Restoration of 

Speeches will be presented at the plenary and sectional meetings (workshops), poster presentations are possible.

Travel, accommodation and catering at the expense of the conference participants.

The Organizing Committee has an exclusive right to select the topics and incluse them in the program of the conference. Working languages ​​of the conference are Ukrainian and English.

The results and materials of the conference will be published in a digest.

The texts, no more than 1 printer’s sheet, are submitted before Dec. 1, 2018 in electronic Word format (any version) or txt. The illustrations should be black and white photos, graphics (ink, high-quality xerox). The Illustrations sent electronically must have a resolution of at least 300 dpi with linear dimensions of at least 12 cm in width. Signatures for illustrations should be presented in a separate list in a separate file.

Notes, including references to the literature, should be placed at the page bottom in the standard way. The title of the literary work or the source to which the article refers for the first time, should be indicated in full, for example:

Baranov, I. A. Sudak ” Chapel”. Dating and Attribution // 5th Republican Scientific Conference on the Issues of Culture and Art of Armenia. Yerevan, 1982. pp. 275–279.

The next references to this work should be indicated briefly, for example:
