A meeting of the Scientific and Methodological Council of the National Conservation Area “St. Sophia of Kyiv” was held

An extended meeting of the Scientific and Methodological Council took place on February 14 in the conference hall of the National Conservation Area “St. Sophia of Kyiv”. The agenda is the report of one of the leading departments of the Conservation Area for its work in 2021. “St. Sophia Institute” research department was the first to report in detail. The work of its staff was reported by Doctor of Historical Sciences Nadiia Nikitenko, Professor, Head of the Department.

The department has 24 employees who hold 20 positions, 9 of which have scientific degrees: 1 Doctor of Sciences, 7 Candidates of Historical Sciences, 1 candidate of Political Sciences. Main directions of activity: research, scientific-methodical, scientific-publishing, scientific-educational, scientific-reserve, scientific-exposition and scientific-organizational work. Nadiia Mykolaiivna emphasized that this jubilee year of the 30th anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence was marked by the 1010th anniversary of the founding of Sophia of Kyiv. The definition of 1011 as the year of the founding of Sophia of Kyiv by Volodymyr the Great entered the history of Ukraine and the list of the most outstanding events of 2021. The head of the department capaciously described the individual work of scientists, told about numerous scientific publications, conferences in which they participated, about their significant research and cultural and educational work – lectures, tours, interviews, organization and presentation of patronage projects, exhibitions, writing scientific and unified passports, historical references, etc. Director General of the Conservation Area Nelia Kukovalska noted that “St. Sophia Institute” research department fully justifies its existence.
