A meeting of the Scientific and Methodological Council of the National Conservation Area “St. Sophia of Kyiv” was held
Today, February 13, 2023, the first meeting of the Scientific and Methodological Council of the year was held in the National Conservation Area “St. Sophia of Kyiv” under the chairmanship of the Head of the “St. Sophia Institute” Scientific Research Department, doctor of historical sciences, professor Nadiia Nikitenko.
Scientists considered a number of topical issues. In particular, the thematic and exposition plan of the upcoming exhibition “Russian-Ukrainian Wars of the 12th – 21st Centuries: Evidence of St. Sophia” (working title) in the narthex of St. Sophia’s Cathedral was unanimously approved. The exhibition project was presented by candidate of historical sciences, head of the St. Sophia Museum Ihor Netudykhatkin.
This exhibition is timed to the anniversary of the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the russian army into Ukraine. It is designed to acquaint visitors with the unique knowledge of the thousand-year-old walls about all the “February 24ths” in the history of Ukraine: from the robbery of Kyiv by the “first Great russian”, Prince Andrii Boholiubskyi, to today’s evidence.
The implementation of the exhibition project was made possible thanks to the cooperation of the National Conservation Area “St. Sophia of Kyiv” with the soldiers of the 114th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Yuliia Yadoshchuk, Head of the St. Andrew’s Church Museum, presented the participants of the Scientific and Methodical Council with a new children’s educational and cognitive program “Andriivski Sketches”. The interactive format of the new program will help visitors to get to know the history of St. Andrew’s Church, a unique monument of the Baroque era, and thanks to the creative format, it will contribute to a better understanding and study of the peculiarities of the art of the Baroque era.
